Horror In Headphones Brings Two New Immersive Audio Haunts to Florida

July 25, 2021. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

This October, drive out to Eustis and experience the most unique haunt event in Florida. Phoenix Tears Productions upcoming event, Horror in Headphones brings you two new immersive shows and a whole lot of scary fun. This is not your traditional haunted house with fog and boo-holes. Both experiences will test your comfort zone and have you fully immersed in the world. Each participant will wear headphones designed to bring you 360 degrees of sound scares, while live actors provide you with the visual horror effects.  Each show is limited to just 15 participants.

Camp Alkeridge promises campy horror fun that fans of cryptids and horror comedy will love. The show features a variety of interactive elements including opportunities to affect the audio as a patron.

Come to Camp Alkeridge for a guided spooky, scary time. Maybe we will encounter the famed creature of the citrus state, Bigfoot of the east, monster of mouse-town known to inhabit these very grounds--THE ALKEMESH!

Their other offering is a high stakes rummage through the woods with Resurrection a more traditional haunt with the story of final girl Gwen, who is desperate to avoid a vicious serial killer and bring her lover back to life.

Those familiar with immersive theater may understand an audio drama as a mix between podplay and mime. The format of theater, which combines radio play style pre-recorded audio with live performance and an outdoor environment, was first brought to Orlando in 2016 by Phoenix Tears. The company started in immersive horror with Infected in 2020 but has also performed audio dramas as a part of the Orlando Fringe and Immerse festivals. The writer of Infected, Megan Markham, was excited to step back into the horror world with the scripts for both Camp Alkeridge and Resurrection, which were then directed by Mallory Vance with audio design by Amanda Simmons.

The show will be at Santa’s Farm as part of their Halloween festivities. Both shows require walking in low light through uneven terrain. Tickets range from $20-$40 but there is an early bird discount now through August 31st.

Gates open at 6:00 and the farm closes at 10:00 or immediately after the last show.  Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your haunt start time.  Arrive early or stay late to enjoy music, yard games, snacks and drinks (beer, wine, themed drinks 21+) in Santa's Beerd Garden.  This is a walking event on uneven terrain, so please wear or bring comfortable shoes.  Participants will be asked to sign a waiver to participate at check-in.  Weapons are not permitted; bags may be subject to search.  Masks that completely cover the face are not permitted.

Choose from two unique experiences or be bold and choose both.  To reserve both shows, please choose start times that are at least 45 minutes apart.

The event is open on Saturdays, October 9th-30th 2021.
